Roxbury High School librarian sues several residents

Roxbury Twp: In a 10-page lawsuit filed in Superior Court in Morristown, Roxbury High School Librarian Roxana Caivano is suing several individual township residents, claiming her character has been defamed since the fall of last year.
Specifically, her suit maintains that Roxbury resident Tom Seretis has “placed her character and reputation in a false light by equating books in the library collection with hard-core pornography and pornographers,” which, the suit maintains, “is a factual assertion of criminal behavior and is unequivocally false.”
The suit claims that on March 6, in an open public forum at a Roxbury Board of Education meeting, Balestriere, Cobo and Albo “individually and jointly slandered and defamed, put the plaintiff in a false light, attacked her credentials and employment status, and caused the plaintiff emotional distress” by claiming she was engaged in luring children with sexually explicit materials, calling her a “child predator” and stating that Caivano “exposed minors to pornographic material.” They also alleged, the suit says, that Caivano has endangered the welfare of children.
