Democracy in America only works if our kids learn to think critically and adults argue from common facts. That’s why MAGA extremists have tried to discredit everything from objective news media, to scientific experts, to nonpartisan agencies like the FBI. And now they’re going after America’s greatest treasure — our public schools. Banning library books. Threatening teachers and librarians with prosecution. Censoring American history. These things will keep happening until Americans committed to freedom of expression for all — no matter our politics — start fighting back.
Districts for Democracy will work one school board, legislative, and congressional district at a time to recruit and support candidates committed to freedom of inquiry, thought, and speech for everyone. We want to keep the culture wars out of our schools, return school board elections to their nonpartisan roots, and keep our schools and universities focused on their central mission: helping our kids become educated and engaged citizens of these United States.
